Do scanned PDFs work?
Yes. Clozely detects image-only pages and reads them with on-device OCR, so you can highlight a scan the way you would digital text.
Does it handle journal papers with two columns?
Yes. Highlights follow the text flow, and selections snap to word boundaries. If an extraction ever catches odd whitespace in a citation-heavy paper, dragging the highlight edge fixes the card.
